I am Melina.  I homeschool my kids, design websites, talk to people about sex and ageing, and try to live lightly on the planet.  In the past, I have learned how to fold a fitted sheet, trained as a dancer, went to a Yeshiva High School, been a stripper, worked as a loan shark, therapeutically restrained clinically insane children, went head-to-head with personal injury attorneys, built VA's first earthship eco-home, created two non-profit learning cooperatives, homeschooled a child all the way through high school, solo-hiked extensively through the Appalachian Trail, and nursed each of my children for three years, not necessarily in that order.

In the present, I spend a lot of time thinking about:
  • Sex and Ageing: Is a youth-focused sexuality biologically or socially driven?  What are peak sexual experiences after 40 like?
  • Viable Part-Time Employment: What does meaningful part-time work look like?  How does "working from home" actually work?
  • Community Building through Volunteerism: Why do so few people volunteer?  Is volunteerism the foundation of community?
  • Urban Sustainability: What is it like to be car-free?  Is cohousing a form of environmental activism?
